The North Channel, which stretches between Georgian Bay and Lake Huron, is often called the world's best fresh water cruising ground. Few who have visited would dispute that title.
The 90 nautical mile passage between Killarney, Ont., in the east and Drummond Island, Mich., in the west is surrounded by breathtaking scenery and offers clean water, sheltered anchorages and welcoming ports-of-call.
The fur trade, fishing and logging originally drew Europeans to the area, but tourism has been the primary industry since the late 20th century. Most of the North Channel's islands are Canadian Crown Land and there are several First Nations communities along the shores. Although harbour facilities are well developed, wilderness cruising is the main attraction.
Well-know Canadian artists have immortalized Northern Ontario's scenery. Discover....Lake Huron's North Channel brings those images to life. It visits anchorages and ports by boat and helicopter and travels upriver to Sault Ste Marie.
Whether you're reliving past cruises or exploring the area for the first time, come aboard for the cruise of a lifetime.
